Jose Mourinho has always been a master at handling media narratives and pushing them in directions that would be beneficial for his team.
The Real Madrid manager has now reignited the refereeing debate surrounding Barcelona and Los Blancos .
As quoted by AS , Mourinho was asked about his relationship with referees and responded by referencing the Negreira case.
"I don't think I'm the problem," Mourinho said when questioned about his relationship with referees.
"I think the problem lies in bad luck and arriving at certain clubs at certain times."
"I arrived at Real Madrid during the peak Negreira years."
The Portuguese manager's remarks refer to the period when Barcelona made payments to companies linked to Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira, the former vice-president of Spain's refereeing committee.

Those payments have been central to an ongoing legal controversy, although the existence of payments does not, by itself, establish that Barcelona received favourable refereeing decisions.
Mourinho's latest comments revive a familiar argument from his first spell at Madrid, when refereeing disputes regularly dominated discussions surrounding matches against Barcelona.
Barcelona once again drawn into the debate
For Barcelona supporters, Mourinho's remarks are unlikely to come as a surprise.
His first spell at the Bernabeu was marked by an intense rivalry with Pep Guardiola's Barcelona, with controversies involving referees frequently overshadowing the football itself.
He has now arrived in Spain during a time when the Catalan club are enjoying another period of dominance.
Barcelona's sporting achievements during that period cannot simply be dismissed by an allegation, but Madrid are doing their best to push the narrative .
The timing of Mourinho's remarks is particularly interesting with another Clasico approaching later this month.

Barcelona currently hold a six-point advantage over Madrid, and Hansi Flick's side have an opportunity to strengthen their position through their performances.
They do not need to attach too much importance to Mourinho's media antics, nor should they let them affect them negatively.
Flick's side are playing the kind of football that other teams in Spain look to as a reference.
Getting dragged into refereeing debates is unlikely to be healthy for Flick, and it remains to be seen how things play out on this front.
