FSU vs. SMU Delayed with Power Outage, Check Out Photos, Videos of Doak Campbell Stadium

Florida State and SMU will have to wait a bit longer than expected to start their game on Monday.

The game between the Seminoles and Mustangs was delayed because of a power outage at Doak Campbell Stadium. Kickoff was initially set for 7:30 p.m. ET, but Florida State announced that there would be an update at 8:20, followed by a 10-minute warm-up period.

The game was then delayed until at least 9:15, although with significant restrictions.

According to The Athletic's David Ubben , the teams were making their entrances ahead of kickoff when the stadium lights flashed and then went out across the stadium.

Minutes later, the stadium screens displayed a message saying that the game had been delayed because of a power outage.

ESPN's Taylor McGregor said on the broadcast that Florida State attempted to reset the stadium's power, and a transformer blew out. There was also a power outage on campus overnight.

The No. 19 Mustangs come into the game as a 2.5-point favorite over the Seminoles, per FanDuel Sportsbook . Florida State started its season with a Week 0 victory over New Mexico State.

The Seminoles have a tough start to the season, facing SMU this week before taking on No. 13 Alabama on the road next week. Florida State is looking to return to national relevance, and a few wins over ranked opponents would help set the tone.

The Mustangs reached the College Football Playoff two years ago but went 9-4 last year. After facing Florida State this week, they'll take on UC Davis next week.
