Pat McAfee was right about Georgia football
The ESPN personality called his own shot on Saturday.
During Saturday's ESPN College GameDay, Pat McAfee made a bold prediction on the Georgia Bulldogs vs. Alabama Crimson Tide game. Despite the blowback, he was spot on, even with Saban and the rest of Tuscaloosa in disbelief.
During the segment of the show where the crew picks who will win Saturday's slate of games, the show had a special guest, former Alabama quarterback Bryce Young. This did not intimidate McAfee from picking Georgia to win the game.
Obviously, the Tuscaloosa crowd disagreed with McAfee and was knocked to the floor by Saban and Young. However, his pick was right as Georgia prevailed 20-17 over the Tide.
The game lived up to the hype in every way. Georgia had the biggest lead in the game, 10-0, which lasted less than one minute because Alabama answered with a touchdown of their own on the next drive.
Kirby Smart won his third game against the Tide, and it was Georgia's first win in Tuscaloosa since 2007, when Matthew Stafford was the signal caller.
Georgia relied on running backs Bo Walker (69 rushing yards) and Dwight Phillips Jr. (120 rushing yards) with Chauncey Bowens and Nate Frazier ruled out.
Due to Hurricane Isaias, the show was moved inside Alabama's Coleman Coliseum, instead of outside Bryant-Denny Stadium. The energy was still electric on set and from the fans.
ESPN College GameDay rolls on for a rare non-SEC matchup to feature. The show heads to Provo, Utah as BYU takes on Notre Dame in a top 10 clash. This non-conference meeting between the Cougars and Fighting Irish carries College Football Playoff implications.
BYU hosts Notre Dame on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
