No. 22 LSU could be set to climb back up into the top 20 of the AP Poll after a Saturday blowout of shorthanded No. 16 Mississippi State.
Lane Kiffin led the Tigers to a 31-0 victory over a Bulldogs team missing starting quarterback Kamario Taylor and leading rusher Fluff Bothwell in Baton Rouge.
Here's a look at the top offensive player stats and highlights as well as updated SEC standings after Saturday's shutout.
Biggest Disappointments of 2026 CFB Season 😞
Taylor is still sidelined with the foot injury he attempted to play through during Mississippi State's most recent game against Alabama. Bothwell was also held out with a lower-body injury that led to him wearing a boot on the sidelines Saturday.
That left Mississippi State turning to backup quarterback Parker Puckett, who threw an interception on his second possession.
Sam Leavitt opened the game having gone 9-for-10 with 91 yards and two touchdowns in the first quarter.
He added another passing touchdown in the second quarter to allow LSU to jump out to a 21-point first-half lead.
Leavitt recorded his fourth passing touchdown in the third quarter as Kiffin kept his starters on the field late in the Saturday blowout.
The Tigers finished the game having out-gained the Bulldogs 379-291 while holding the visitors to just 121 passing yards.
LSU has reached a peak of No. 7 in the AP Poll this fall. The Tigers dropped to a season-low of No. 22 after dropping their second SEC defeat of the season to Kentucky last Saturday.
The Tigers saw minimal change following their last win over a ranked opponent, a 35-6 win over No. 23 Texas A&M that coincided with LSU dropping one spot to No. 11 in the AP Poll. The Tigers moved back up to No. 10 following a blowout of McNeese State the following week.
Beating another ranked opponent while evening the team's conference record to .500 could be enough to bring the Tigers back into the top 20 of the next AP Poll.
