Colorado coach Deion Sanders wanted his players to have a measured reaction to starting the 2026 season with an upset win at Georgia Tech.

"Let's make sure this locker room is clean when we leave. Let's be respectful," Sanders said in the visitor's locker room after the Buffaloes secured a 14-13 win by blocking a potential walk-off field goal.

Sanders continued, "Don't say nothing crazy about our opponents, because they fought their butts off, and I have a lot of respect for their coach and the coaching staff. They played really, really well, so let's be mindful of that, but let's be sure we clean up this locker room."

Quarterback Julian Lewis gave the Buffaloes a late lead by finding tight end Charlie Williams for a 20-yard touchdown pass with less than a minute remaining in the fourth quarter.

Colorado's special teams, which had struggled earlier in the game, came up with the game-saving field goal block to close out the victory.

Sanders will now look to help his team carry that momentum into their second game of the season next Saturday during an afternoon home opener against Weber State.
