Memorial Linebacker commits to Dayton Flyers

EVANSVILLE, In. (WEHT) -- One of the most talented players in the Tri-State is announcing his commitment to play college football at the Division One level. Tigers' Grayson Carter will play for Dayton next year turning in his Tiger stripes to become a Flyer. The senior linebacker leads the team with 42 tackles in just four weeks of play. Three of those have been for a loss, and he's been a focal point for a Memorial defense that's only allowing 15 points per game. Carter says he had several other schools to choose from like S.I.U.E., Yale, and Brown. But Dayton's coaching staff stood out among the rest.

"Dayton was probably the biggest school recruiting me like the most. The coach just really made it seem like they really, really wanted me. And then getting on campus, I saw the campus was really, really nice. I really like the school, so it just seemed like the best fit for me." said Carter, "I went on a gameday visit after they offered me and watching the team, like everything just felt really, really good. I just don't have any doubts about it. So I was like, why am I waiting?"

Carter says he's thankful his recruiting decision is already made now he can focus fully on the season trying to help lead the Tigers to their first state title since 2019.
