President Donald Trump says he won't attend Georgia vs. Alabama because of Hurricane Isaias
Trump was set to attend his second college football game in three weeks.
President Donald Trump is no longer attending Alabama's game against Georgia because of Hurricane Isaias.
He announced in a social media post he wouldn't be making the trip to Tuscaloosa on Friday afternoon and said, "I will be visiting both of those teams at a later date." Instead, the president said he would go to a political rally in Tennessee.
Trump was in Tennessee two weeks ago for the No. 15 Volunteers' loss to No. 1 Texas.
Saturday's game is still scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. CT kickoff as Isaias is set to make landfall on the Gulf Coast on Friday evening. The storm strengthened to a Category 3 on Friday before it is projected to hit near the Alabama-Florida border. Those two states, along with Georgia, have declared states of emergency, and National Guard members have been deployed for the areas projected to be affected.
The storm is set to be in northern Alabama around kickoff and may not impact the game itself significantly. However, Alabama said Thursday that it had prohibited tailgating until Noon CT and that tailgaters would not be allowed to have tents. ESPN's "College GameDay" announced Thursday that it would broadcast Saturday morning from inside Coleman Coliseum.
Tuscaloosa is located approximately 200 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. The No. 6 Crimson Tide's game against the No. 2 Bulldogs is the only top-10 matchup of Week 6 and is a rematch of the 2025 SEC championship game. After Alabama beat Georgia in the regular season, the Bulldogs won the rematch in December.
