Rangers captain Lawrence Shankland is set for a spell on the sidelines after picking up a "significant" hamstring injury in Saturday's Scottish Premiership victory over Motherwell.

The Scotland striker limped off after eight minutes at Ibrox, with his replacement Ryan Naderi scoring the only goal of the game shortly after.

Shankland - who signed from Hearts in May - has scored four goals in his first 10 Rangers appearances, but will now miss several weeks in a blow to Derek McInnes.

"It looks quite significant, to be honest," manager McInnes said.

"It's a similar injury we think that he had at Hearts last January. That was a period of time that he was out with that.

"We'll get the scan done on Monday and see how it looks then rather than speculating. It's disappointing because he was leading the line and scoring a few goals in the last couple of games.

"There were more positives than negatives from today, but that was a negative."
