Liverpool defender Jacquet shines on France debut but vows to raise his game: “I can do much better”

Jeremy Jacquet has said he can still get better despite an impressive senior debut for France against Belgium .

Jacquet made his first appearance for the national team during the 1-0 win over Belgium in the UEFA Nations League on Monday night.

The Liverpool defender was included in the France squad for the first time this month, following an eye-catching adaptation to the Premier League.

The 21-year-old helped France to a clean sheet on debut, and led his teammates for tackles (4) in an accomplished performance. Jacquet also won 6/9 defensive duels, completed 91.8% of his passes, and had the joint-most passes into the final third (10).

Despite a strong showing on debut for Les Bleus , Jacquet insisted he was not satisfied and outlined his desire to improve.

"Am I satisfied with my performance? No," he told TF1.

"I'm thinking about two or three times in the attacking phase when I could have done much better with my passing.

"I'm not going to get into whether I'll become a starter. I'm taking my time and keeping my feet on the ground.

"I'm asked to play, I'm given instructions and I try to follow them. I've got my head screwed on."
