Missouri quarterback Austin Simmons has signed a contract to return for the 2027 season, per ESPN's Pete Thamel.

Per On3's Pete Nakos, Simmons could still enter the 2027 draft even with the new deal.

The contract, though, certainly points to Simmons playing another season in Missouri for his final year of NCAA eligibility.

The latest B/R NFL Scouting Department 2027 mock draft placed Simmons 13th overall to the Cleveland Browns.

Simmons was a 4-star class of 2023 prospect (per the 247Sports Composite ranking ) out of Moore Haven (Florida) High School.

Simmons started his collegiate career with Ole Miss in 2023, when he redshirted. Two seasons later, he began the season as the Rebels' QB1. However, Simmons suffered a left ankle injury in Week 2 in 30-23 win over Kentucky. Trinidad Chambliss took over the following week and never looked back.

Simmons transferred to Missouri last offseason, and things have gone quite well for him in town as QB1. He has completed 63.3 percent of his passes for 1,952 yards (8.1 yards per attempt), 16 touchdowns and two interceptions. Simmons has led the Tigers to a 6-2 record (3-2 SEC) and No. 18 College Football Playoff rankings.

Simmons and the Tigers have a tough road ahead, though, as they host No. 7 Texas, visit No. 2 Georgia and welcome No. 6 Kentucky in back-to-back-back weeks beginning Saturday. The Longhorns are up first on Saturday at noon ET.
