Eagles news: Sean Mannion's offense looking too much like Kevin Patullo's

The Philadelphia Eagles had a complete meltdown on Monday Night Football . Philadelphia could not move the ball against Chicago, only managing to score seven points. The problems with Philly's offense look eerily similar to how the team struggled under Kevin Patullo in 2025.

Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion can not be pleased with his unit after Week 3. Philly recorded an EPA/drive of -1.68 against Chicago, the worst performance of the Nick Sirianni era per The Athletic's Zach Berman.

To make matters worse, the Eagles have ranked near the bottom of the league in three-and-outs over the past two seasons. In that respect, there's really no difference between the results that Patullo and Mannion have delivered.

"Just kind of being off schedule there, not being in third-and-long, being in second-and-long, and we have to fix that," Sirianni said. "You can't go backwards."

Fortunately, Philly's biggest stars on offense are taking it upon themselves to fix this problem.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts is taking responsibility for the team's lack of success on third downs. Especially during Monday's brutal loss to the Bears.

"That's a complete team effort that starts with me," Hurts said. "Making sure we're in the right play. Making sure we're managing in a way where we're ahead of the sticks. And situationally, I gotta play better ball. Gotta play better ball. Third down was a very big down for us, and that's been a very big down for us in these first two games. And today we were not good enough, and I wasn't good enough. Fourth down I wasn't good enough, as well."

Now it is much easier said than done to completely fix an NFL offense. But the Eagles are one step ahead of most because they know exactly what is going wrong.

It will be interesting to see what improvements the Eagles make in their next matchup.
