How Inter’s Andy Diouf bewitched Zinedine Zidane amidst possible France call-up

Serie A side Inter have seen Andy Diouf emerge as one of their best players so far this season. This has led to him attracting attention from new France boss Zinedine Zidane, who has included him amongst the pre-called up players for Les Bleus .

La Gazzetta dello Sport note that the versatile wing-back's performance against Real Madrid has played a key role in this.

He was constantly causing problems on his side, taking Marc Cucurella on and even defensive, proved a tough nut to crack for Vinicius Jr.

His desire to be very direct and also create from that side has caught particular attention. Diouf also has two Serie A assists and has pretty much cemented his spot on the right wing-back position.

Initially signed to bolster the midfield, the idea of turning Diouf into a wing-back was burn in pre-season. Cristian Chivu had dabbled with the idea last season but could never quite implement it during the campaign.

His ability to carry the ball is specifically turning into an advantage for that role. That is one reason why he was seen as a good fit and things are clearly working well. It is a role which suits him and even if he may not exactly make a debut for France, it is a sign that things are going in the right direction.
