Inter Miami fans fume at ’embarrassing’ referee as Lionel Messi’s team denied victory after ‘insane’ decisions

Inter Miami supporters are furious with the referee following their 2-2 draw against Atlanta United on Saturday.

Jon Freemon awarded Atlanta two penalties, with one scored by Breel Embolo and the other missed by Miguel Almiron.

Goals from Casemiro and Luis Suarez earned Miami a draw, while Lionel Messi missed a chance to win in added time.

Inter Miami fans have since taken to social media to draw attention to Freemon's controversial refereeing decisions.

Inter Miami fans cannot believe Atlanta United received two penalties, especially the second, which was for a foul on Breel Embolo.

Embolo felt a hand on his shoulder, flopped to the ground to win a penalty, and then converted it to make it 2-2.

Miami supporters believe they were denied an important victory due to referee Jon Freemon's "biased" decisions.

"I hate this league… Jon Freemon is the worst ref in the world," one replied. "Your biased ref was embarrassing," another added.

A Lionel Messi fan wrote: "I used to defend this league because the GOAT was playing here, but now I see it clearly: you're not even top 20 in the least. Change your referees, burger league."

A fourth commented: " MLS really needs to bring quality referees. I have been watching MLS since Messi joined, and the referees are horrible compared to the top 10 leagues in the world."

"Insane narrative you just pulled to give Embolo a pen on his very first game when it was a clear dive," one suggested. "I get you're trying to show off a new superstar, but two bogus pens in five mins is actually just b———."

Inter Miami remain second in the Eastern Conference standings after their draw with Atlanta, 10 points behind Nashville.
