Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast , journalist Pete O'Rourke stated that Manchester United have identified Nottingham Forest defender Murillo as a target for next year. O'Rourke said

"Murillo has been a previous target for Manchester United because of how well he's done for Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

"It looks like he is going to be high on their list again because they do want to strengthen in his position, and he is somebody they are very much aware of.

"It'll be a really difficult deal to do because he only signed a new long-term deal last May to keep him at the City Ground until 2030.

"I can't see anything happening in January because Forest don't need the money at the moment and he's a very important player for them.

"So they are ready to put a big price tag on Murillo's head because of his contract situation at the City Ground, and it would take a huge offer if they were to consider letting him go."

Murillo's Impressive Form In The Premier League

Murillo enjoyed a good run of form at the Midlands club in the previous campaign when he put in a series of impressive displays for them on the defensive end of the field. The Brazilian talent made 39 appearances for Nottingham last season, scoring two goals in multiple competitions.

The 24-year-old is currently among the most talented centre-backs in Premier League football. Hence, it is no wonder that the Red Devils are eyeing a move for him next year.

His current contract at the City Ground will run out in the summer of 2030, which could make it tough for Man United to sign him on the cheap in 2027.

Should Manchester United Boss Michael Carrick Move In For Murillo?

Murillo is a solid tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and excels at playing his way out from the back.

Standing at 1.83m, the Brazilian sensation is a strong presence in the air as well. He has a wealth of experience in the Premier League and won't take any time to adjust to life at Old Trafford.

Murillo would add more bite and steel to Man United boss Michael Carrick's defence. He has what it takes to fight for regular first-team football at the Theatre of Dreams.

At 24, Murillo will only improve with each season. Thus, it makes sense for Carrick to move in for him in the January transfer window or next summer.
