Dante Moore, No. 6 Oregon Upset by Oklahoma St., Box Score Stats, Draft Stock After Historic Loss

No. 6 Oregon suffered a shocking 39-31 upset loss at the hands of Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon.

The Cowboys entered the contest on a 12-game losing streak, becoming the first team with a double-digit losing streak to ever defeat a top-10 opponent.

Ducks quarterback Dante Moore bounced back from a shaky first half, but it wasn't enough to help his team emerge victorious.

As Moore's inability to beat Oklahoma State may have hurt his draft stock, fans and pundits were surprised by the outcome of the overall game.

The Ducks didn't appear to be on the verge of an upset loss at the beginning of Saturday's matchup, holding a 7-3 lead at the end of the first quarter due to a 96-yard pick-six by linebacker Devon Jackson.

However, Oklahoma State's offense exploded in the second quarter as Oregon struggled to keep up.

The Cowboys finished with 21 points in the quarter compared to just 10 for the Ducks, gaining a 24-17 lead at halftime. Moore was just 5-of-15 for 45 yards in the first half.

Oklahoma State extended its advantage to 27-17 with a field goal on its opening drive of the third quarter, but Oregon quickly responded with a 36-yard touchdown pass by Moore.

An ensuing Cowboys field goal put them up by six points, but the Ducks finally jumped back in front with a 38-yard touchdown connection between Moore and Evan Stewart.

The shootout continued shortly afterwards, as Oklahoma State quarterback Drew Mestemaker scrambled for a 10-yard rushing touchdown to give his squad a 36-31 lead on the next drive.

The Ducks' offense finally stalled down the stretch of the game, picking up just 11 total yards on their next three possessions combined. One drive ended in a punt, while the other two resulted in turnovers.

This included an unexpected decision by Oregon head coach Dan Lanning to attempt a fourth-down conversion with eight yards to gain at his own 33-yard line with just under seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. The Ducks were unable to move the chains, setting up an Oklahoma State field goal.

Lanning's team consistently failed to extend drives, converting just five of 14 opportunities on third down. Oregon also struggled on the ground, compiling a mere 90 rush yards on 30 attempts.

The Ducks are now 1-1, as their latest defeat should be a cause for concern moving forward.
