Former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has made a bold prediction about Viktor Gyökeres' Arsenal future, insisting the Gunners will sell the Swedish international next summer.

His comments followed Arsenal's comfortable 2-0 victory over Everton on Saturday, a match in which Gyökeres provided an assist but once again failed to get himself on the scoresheet.

And Agbonlahor clearly wasn't impressed with what he saw.

Agbonlahor Questions Gyökeres' Arsenal Future

Speaking on talkSPORT , Agbonlahor questioned the striker's mobility.

"Looks like he's like running in slow motion, isn't he?"

He then acknowledged that Gyökeres can hold the ball up, but insisted the 28-year-old would not be at Arsenal next season, confirming:

Agbonlahor went further, suggesting Arsenal would already have moved Gyökeres on if they had managed to secure the signing of Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez.

Of course, this isn't a new idea. Arsenal were repeatedly linked with a Gyökeres-plus-cash deal for Álvarez throughout the summer transfer window, with one report suggesting the Gunners could offer the Swedish striker alongside £68.5 million.

Ultimately, nothing materialised, and Gyökeres remained at Arsenal. But Agbonlahor clearly believes the club will revisit the question of his future next summer.

That's quite a statement about a player who helped Arsenal win the Premier League last season and remains under contract until 2030.

There is no denying that Gyökeres has struggled for goals this season. He managed just 17 touches and failed to register a shot during his 68 minutes against Everton.

For a striker who arrived with such an impressive goalscoring reputation, those numbers are naturally disappointing.

And Saturday was only his first Premier League start of the campaign.

It's certainly fair to question whether Gyökeres is producing enough to justify a regular starting place, particularly with Kai Havertz competing for the same position.

But suggesting Arsenal will definitely sell him next summer seems premature when we're only eight league games into the season.

Arteta has repeatedly spoken positively about the striker, and there is still plenty of football to be played before any decisions about next summer's transfer window need to be made.

Perhaps Agbonlahor will eventually be proved right. But surely Gyökeres deserves more than one league start before his Arsenal future is written off?
