UNC Football Unveils 1980 Throwback Uniforms in New Photos for 2026 CFB Season

The University of North Carolina is paying homage to its 1980 ACC championship-winning football team with a new throwback uniform that was unveiled Thursday.

Several photos of the unis dropped on UNC football's official X account in anticipation of the team's home opener against East Tennessee State on Sept. 12:

Some of the uniforms' unique features include a throwback "UNC" logo on the helmet and "Carolina" written across the chest of the jersey.

The Tar Heels are already off to a 1-0 start in their second season under head coach Bill Belichick, as they beat TCU 15-10 in Dublin, Ireland, last weekend.
