Konstantinos Karetsas substituted due to circulatory problems: ‘This is a concern for us’

Borussia Dortmund 's Konstantinos Karetsas had to be substituted in the 27th minute of their UEFA Champions League victory over Villarreal due to circulatory problems, the club have confirmed.

"Konstantinos Karetsas had to leave the field due to circulatory problems. Kosta is doing well under the circumstances and is on his way to the hospital for further tests," BVB said on Tuesday evening.

Post Dortmund's 3-2 victory , sporting director Ole Book offered a further update. "We don't know more than that," he told Ruhr Nachrichten . "He was substituted due to circulatory problems. It happened very suddenly – he sat down and was taken to hospital for further examinations. We hope he recovers quickly and that it's nothing serious. This is a concern for us all right now."

Managing director Lars Ricken also sent his best wishes, and praised the team's response. "I have to compliment the team as well. It's not easy when a teammate is stretchered off and you don't exactly know what's wrong with him. You definitely feel that in a team but, we stood by each other."
