Record Olympic luge champions Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt of Germany have put their retirement plans on hold and want to continue until the next Games 2030 in the French Alps.
Wendl and Arlt had originally planned to end their careers after the upcominmg 2026-27 season but have changed their mind.
"We are 39, we are fit and healthy," Wendl told broadcasters ZDF.
The two said in an Instagram video: "We have achieved everything in our sport: we are seven-time Olympic champions, 10-time world champions and we have won the World Cup seven times. Our career ends at almost 40 - supposedly. We are starting the project 2030 Olympics and we are taking you along for the ride."
Wendl and Arlt won double luge and team event gold at the 2014, 2018 and 2022 Games, plus team gold and double luge bronze this year at Milan/Cortina.
