Man City director of football Hugo Viana and co are keeping tabs on Club Brugge's Nicolò Tresoldi.

With Erling Haaland seemingly breaking Manchester City and Premier League goalscoring records on a monthly basis, a new centre-forward has not looked like one of the club's most pressing needs.

But the recruitment team, led by sporting director Hugo Viana, cannot afford to wait for a gap to open before they plan to fill it; the search for the next elite young striker has not stopped.

That search has reportedly now taken City scouts to Belgium, where one of the season's breakout forwards has caught the eye of several European heavyweights. Manchester City are ready to join the fray and could go toe-to-toe with a domestic rival to get their man.

As reported by Italian outlet La Stampa and relayed by Sport Witness , the Blues have made a formal enquiry about Club Brugge striker Nicolò Tresoldi.

The 22-year-old has lit up the European season, not least with a stunning UEFA Champions League hat-trick away to Inter - and has eight league goals in just nine starts.

Club Brugge value the Italian-born forward at €50 million, a hefty increase on the €7.5 million they paid to get him out of Hannover in the summer of 2025.

Chelsea are said to be the other Premier League heavyweight in the race, while Serie A pair Juventus and AC Milan would love to take him to Italy. However, the financial muscle of the English clubs has pushed them to the front of the queue.

It is not just clubs competing for Tresoldi's allegiance. Having come through the age groups with Germany, the forward remains eligible for Germany, Italy and Argentina, and both Jürgen Klopp and Roberto Mancini are said to be courting him at international level.

He reportedly intends to make a final decision on his senior international future after competing at the U21 European Championship with Germany.

For starters, any City move would almost certainly happen next summer rather than in January. Club Brugge are loath to lose their prize asset mid-season and expect him to become their record sale regardless of when he departs.

Manchester City can afford to bide their time, too, with Haaland showing no signs of signing down. Tresoldi would be a signing for the medium term rather than an immediate introduction to the starting line-up.
