A Texas fan is facing the consequences after crossing the line following Saturday's upset loss to Florida.
Texas athletics director Chris Del Conte announced that the fan has been permanently banned from Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium after he was filmed making an obscene gesture at Gators players on the field.
"We pride ourselves on sportsmanship and treating our opponents with respect," Del Conte said in his statement. "This individual's actions did not reflect those values or meet our standards and will not be tolerated. The matter has been addressed internally, and I want to personally apologize to the University of Florida and its entire football program."
Per ESPN's Dave Wilson , Del Conte told the Houston Chronicle that the student was a local resident who attends another college in Florida, and he didn't know who authorized the field pass for the student.
No. 19 Texas (4-2) will face another tough test on Saturday in a primetime matchup at home against No. 7 Ole Miss (5-1).
