Colorado storms field after notching first Big 12 win in over a year with OT victory against 4-4 Kansas State
Colorado's win moves the Buffaloes to 3-5 on the year.
The Colorado Buffaloes beat the Kansas State Wildcats in overtime on Saturday afternoon. Seconds after the win, the goalposts came down, and fans began rushing the field.
Colorado's victory moved the school to 3-5 overall, but it was the Buffaloes' first Big 12 win of the season, and their first since Oct. 11, 2025. It also snapped a five-game losing streak and marked Colorado's first win at Folsom Field since Sept. 12, when it beat Weber State 52-21.
To add to the fun, the overtime win came on Halloween. So not only are students pouring onto the field, but costumed students are too, making for quite the visual.
It looked like Colorado would win in regulation, but Kansas State scored a touchdown with two seconds left. The Wildcats lined up for two, but the Buffaloes called a timeout. Kansas State kicked the extra point after it to send the game to overtime.
The Wildcats got the ball first and settled for a field goal. Colorado clinched the win as quarterback Isaac Wilson rifled a pass to tight end Charlie Williams for an 11-yard score.
The Buffaloes have tied their win total from last season. This is the fourth season of the Deion Sanders era at Colorado. So far, the Buffaloes have eclipsed four wins just once, when they finished 9-4 in 2024, the final season of Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter's collegiate careers.
Colorado has four games left this season and needs to win three to become bowl-eligible. The Buffaloes play Arizona State next week, then face No. 18 Houston, Cincinnati, and UCF.
All of these are conference games, so Colorado will have four more chances to add to its league win total. One more win this season would mark the second time in the Sanders era that the Buffaloes have won at least two conference games.
The loss drops the Wildcats to 4-4 overall, with a 1-4 record in the Big 12. Kansas State will end the season with games against No. 24 Oklahoma State, TCU, No. 22 Arizona, and Iowa State.
