In a relatively down week for high-profile college football games, ESPN is taking its Saturday roadshow to the defending champions.
College GameDay will emanate from Bloomington, Indiana, on Saturday for a matchup between the Minnesota Golden Gophers and Indiana Hoosiers. It'll be the third time GameDay has traveled to Bloomington and the first time since the Hoosiers won the national championship last season.
Saturday feels like a decent time to visit the Hoosiers, since GameDay 's other options would've been pretty lackluster. The best game on paper is probably Florida-Georgia, but there's a decent chance GameDay could travel to three consecutive SEC sites to close the regular season after Bloomington this weekend and a likely trip to South Bend next weekend for a top-five matchup between Miami and Notre Dame.
Minnesota-Indiana will be the second trip GameDay has taken to a Big Ten school this season, with Ohio State-Iowa in Week 5 being the first. It's also the second game GameDay will travel to that is not airing on an ESPN-affiliated network; Minnesota-Indiana will air on CBS at 3:30 p.m. ET.
The decision to travel to Indiana makes this the third consecutive week GameDay will not emanate from an SEC school, after doing so in five of the first six weeks of the season.
There were certainly better games to pick on paper. The Hoosiers are a 20-point favorite against the Golden Gophers this Saturday. But sending the crew to Bloomington shows ESPN still treats GameDay as the program of record for college football. Despite Minnesota-Indiana being a lackluster game that won't even air on an ESPN network, GameDay is rightfully honoring Indiana's historic 2025 season by paying the school a visit. ESPN could've easily gone to Florida-Georgia, Arizona-Texas Tech, or even a massive FCS game like South Dakota-South Dakota State, all of which will air on an ESPN network.
Instead, GameDay is giving Indiana its due.
