College Football Coaches Poll 2026 Week 2 Rankings Released with Risers and Fallers

There wasn't much movement in the Week 2 American Football Coaches Association Coaches Poll released Tuesday after the vast majority of top-25 teams were victorious in Week 1.

Ohio State continues to lead the way following its 56-3 decimation of Ball State. Here is a full rundown of where the rankings stand with the Buckeyes on top (first-place votes in parenthesis) :

The majority of the top 10 teams that were in action in Week 1 won easily against a lower level of competition, including the Buckeyes, who saw their Heisman Trophy candidates in quarterback Julian Sayin and wide receiver Jeremiah Smith get the season off to an ideal start.

Sayin threw for 320 yards and three touchdowns, while Smith finished with eight receptions for 151 yards and two scores in OSU's easy victory.

Things did not come so easily for No. 6 Oregon, though, as the Ducks were pushed to the limit at home by Boise State.

The Ducks trailed for most of the first half, but they came to life in the second half, and Heisman Trophy-contending quarterback Dante Moore was at his best when the team needed him most.

With less than eight minutes remaining in the game, Moore broke a 27-27 score by hitting wide receiver Dakorien Moore for what proved to be a game-winning, 62-yard touchdown.

Despite the win, Oregon dropped four spots from No. 2 to No. 6, making the Ducks one of the biggest fallers in the poll.

Most highly ranked teams played cupcakes from lower-end conferences, but No. 4 Notre Dame and No. 7 Miami tested themselves to some degree against power-conference teams and passed them with flying colors, as the Fighting Irish beat Wisconsin 41-13 and the Hurricanes decimated Stanford 45-6.

Perhaps the most impressive performance of the week belonged to No. 8 LSU, who were the biggest risers, going from 13th to eighth.

In their first game under head coach Lane Kiffin, the Tigers destroyed then-No. 23 Clemson by a 51-10 score.

LSU ran wild on Clemson with 309 yards on the ground, including 113 yards and two touchdowns by both quarterback Sam Leavitt and running back Dilin Jones.

Given their poor showing, it comes as little surprise that Clemson dropped out of the top 25, making way for Florida after the Gators crushed Florida Atlantic 66-21, as well as Virginia, as the Cavaliers beat NC State 34-8 in Week 0.

Aside from LSU, SMU was the biggest riser among teams that were in the top 25 last week, going from 20th to 17th thanks to Monday night's 27-24 road win over Florida State.

Although it remained ranked, Michigan was a massive faller, as it went from 16th to 24th despite a victory. The eight-spot drop was the most among all teams in the poll.

It appeared as though the Wolverines had lost at home to Western Michigan when their last-ditch Hail Mary attempt hit the ground, but one second was controversially put back on the clock, and head coach Kyle Whittingham's team took advantage.

Quarterback Bryce Underwood's second Hail Mary was perfect, and wide receiver JJ Buchanan came down with it for a 47-yard touchdown to give Michigan a less-than-convincing 13-12 triumph.

Michigan will be part of one of the two games pitting ranked opponents against each other next week when it faces No. 10 Oklahoma, while No. 1 Ohio State will clash with No. 3 Texas.
