Alabama could be without Ryan Coleman-Williams for multiple weeks after the star wide receiver underwent arthroscopic knee surgery on a meniscus injury, ESPN's Katie George reported Saturday (h/t ESPN's Alex Scarborough ).
"While the timeline for his return is unclear, sources told ESPN that Coleman-Williams is considered week-to-week," Scarborough reported.
Coleman-Williams had already been ruled out for Saturday's game against Tennessee with what coach Kalen DeBoer confirmed were knee and head injuries.
"He's been dealing with a meniscus injury the past three weeks, playing through it, but ultimately (doctors) wanted to go in, get it cleaned up, so he had it scoped," George said about Coleman-Williams during ABC's Saturday broadcast of Texas' matchup against Florida (h/t AL.com's Creg Stephenson ).
George added, per Stephenson: "We're told that he's doing well, but we're not likely going to see him for the next couple of weeks."
Coleman-Williams had previously played with a knee brace for two games for what he initially described as "precautionary reasons," per the Associated Press .
The wide receiver was forced to leave last week's matchup against Georgia following a helmet-to-helmet hit in the fourth quarter.
The helmet hit marked the second time Coleman-Williams left the game against the Bulldogs. He briefly exited the game after landing awkwardly after jumping to attempt a catch in the second quarter.
DeBoer told reporters and Monday Coleman-Williams was deadling a "head issue" as well as the lingering knee problem and would likely be considered week-to-week going forward.
Coleman-Williams, who is playing in his third season with the Crimson Tide, had recorded 23 catches for 415 receiving yards with four touchdowns as Alabama's top receiver through his first six games of the season.
Cederian Morgan and Noah Rogers could both get more look from starter Keelon Russell as Alabama looks to give Coleman-Williams enough time to heal both from his knee procedure and his head injury.
