Week 1 Fantasy RB Rankings 2026: Why Breece Hall and Blake Corum Come With Very Different Risks

Week 1 fantasy football running back decisions can get messy fast, especially when backfield roles, new teams, injuries, and matchup concerns all come into play.

Which RBs Should You Start In Fantasy Football This Week?

Only time will tell you whether Robinson or Jahmyr Gibbs (or neither) was the right call at 1.01 this season, but there's little reason to think that Atlanta 's star can't shine in the season opener.

He logged 18+ touches in every September game last season and has hit that mark in seven of his past eight September appearances. That level of work feels like a forgone conclusion with Tyler Allgeier out of town and, once again, a lack of confidence in terms of the QB.

For his career, he's averaging 5.6 yards per touch and over 110 yards per game: give this man his touches and watch the box score light up. Gibbs was the only RB to score 20 PPR points against the Steelers last season, so maybe there's a slight matchup downgrade, but I'm not even sold on that (fifth most yards per carry allowed to running backs after contact inside the red zone last season).

We aren't 100% sure what to expect from this offense, but we know it'll all revolve around #7, and until we see the NFL consistently figure out a way to slow his efficiency, I'll be penciling him in for 100+ scrimmage yards with a better chance to find paydirt than to be held out of the paint (34 TDs in 51 career games).

This week should be fine by his lofty standards: Panthers, Packers , and Saints over the next three games could be downright dominant for the player I had atop my preseason rankings.

There's a lot to like here, but you didn't draft Corum with the thought that he'd be an asset from the jump. He averaged 5.1 YPC a season ago, and the best offense in the sport didn't hesitate to take Kyren Williams off the field for drives at a time to get him work.

Heck, he led the Rams in rushing in the NFC Title game against the Seahawks.

At cost, I thought he was the proper play in this backfield over the summer, and while I'm not budging off of that take, I'm not playing him until we have some 2026 data points.

The skill set limitations are a bit of a concern, especially if regression hits this offense as a whole. For his career, just 15 of his 216 touches have come through the air, and his next 15-yard reception at the professional level will be his first.

Your investment here was one with the long game in mind. Sit tight and be patient. I'm not sure he'll hit double digits in the touch department this week, and even if that is the case, nothing should change in how you view Corum: you're projecting growth as the season progresses and hoping that you can churn a profit when it matters most.

Games decided by 3 or fewer points: 18.0 PPG

I like this game for one reason and one reason only: it's a chance to see the stars shine. It's going to be rare that either of these teams are in competitive games that allow for that to happen in an honest way, so yea, I'm excited to see what happens in this spot.

I haven't yet decided how to best do it (it hinges more on the lineup construction that I land on and you can see that in our FREE fantasy/betting newsletter that releases four times a week), but I'm going to have a skinny stack in this game with a player from both sides.

Hall is talented enough to be in consideration for that, though I currently project the Titans to win and thus am leaning in favor of their running game. Tennessee 's defense isn't bad, and in terms of yards allowed per carry before contact to running backs, they were actually the best in the sport (35.2% better than league average).

Hall can beat any defense with enough bites at the apple, and I expect that to be the case this weekend. I have him ranked as a RB1 for Sunday and already have him penciled in as a sell-high candidate.

It'll be easy. You sell your opposition on his raw talent and maybe even average offensive support. You get the highlight tape from this weekend and run it on a loop.

This is a player that has the potential to be a top-10 running back for the season from a talent perspective; that's not in question.

It's also not the question we are asking.

There are no points awarded for talent and if/when this offense becomes predictable due to game script (three straight games against the offensively charged NFC North certainly could cause that once we put a bow on Week 1), we are at risk of it being a coin flip if he's a viable RB2 (eight games last season as a top-24 option and eight outside of that).

Start him this week and sell him for a WR2 that you could see sustaining WR1 production next week.
