Betting odds released for Nebraska vs. Maryland Matchup

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are undefeated following the walloping they gave to the Michigan State Spartans Saturday in East Lansing. Favored by 5.5 points, the Huskers dominated the home team, recording six sacks and three takeaways en route to a 31-13 road win.

In truth, the game wasn't even that close.

While Sparty took an early three point lead, it was seemingly all Nebraska the rest of the first half. Anthony Colandrea showed his arm strength. Kwazi Gilmer showed his ability to adjust his body in stride and reel in a big touchdown. It set the tone for the game, as Nebraska imposed its will in a few different statistical categories.

While the running game didn't ever really take off (157 net yards with two rushing touchdowns), part of that can be explained by the early departure of freshman phenom Jamal Rule, who suffered an undisclosed injury. He played eight snaps in the contest. Jacory Barney Jr. managed 21 before an injury took him out of the game.

Barney could be back in time for Saturday's game against Maryland, per HCMR:

Rule is a bigger unknown, especially since we don't know the body part, the extent, or really anything. We'll see if he's slated to make a return and if so, how that changes the money line headed into the Homecoming Weekend game with the Terps.

Speaking of the Terrapins, they lost by 51 points to UCLA last week AT HOME! Can you imagine if the Huskers lost by 51 points at Memorial Stadium? There would be a riot. You'd have to go back to World War II for a loss that bad in Lincoln (61-7 to Minnesota on October 13, 1945). In the modern era…I don't know if we want to revisit 2007 Oklahoma State.

So the 51-point loss has put Maryland HC Mike Locksley on the hottest of seats. He will probably make it to the game Saturday, but if there's a similar outcome on back-to-back weeks, Maryland may look for that eject button.

The Nebraska 4-0 (1-0) Cornhuskers take on the Maryland Terrapins Saturday at 3:00pm. The FanDuel Sportsbook opening line has Nebraska as 14.5-point favorites. The over/under is currently at 52.5 points.
