Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss has already beaten Florida coach Jon Sumrall twice

GAINESVILLE, FL — Ole Miss football quarterback Trinidad Chambliss has drawn high praise from opposing coaches all over the SEC.

Florida coach Jon Sumrall, who will face him in Week 4, is no different.

No. 6 Ole Miss (3-0, 1-0 SEC) plays at No. 22 Florida (3-0, 1-0) on Sept. 19 (2:30 p.m. CT, ABC).

"This guy (Chambliss), he's as good a college football player I've ever seen with my own two eyes," Sumrall said earlier in the week.

Sumrall, who coached at Tulane in 2025, faced Chambliss twice last year. Chambliss and the Rebels won both matchups in blowout fashion, including the 2025 College Football Playoff game.

Chambliss has shined as a passer and a runner through the first three weeks, and has been poised in crunch time during Ole Miss ' one-possession wins against Louisville and LSU .

What Lane Kiffin said about Trinidad Chambliss

Chambliss was who LSU coach Lane Kiffin worried about the most ahead of his return to Ole Miss last week.

"All week my biggest fear every minute was when the game is at the end and Trinidad has the ball in his hand," Kiffin said after Ole Miss ' 32-24 win. "That guy made a lot of plays in the game. Did a great job."

His fears were warranted. Chambliss passed for 363 yards and two touchdowns in the game.

"He's the hardest player to play in America," Kiffin said. "He showed up great today."

Chambliss is tied for No. 1 in the latest batch of Heisman Trophy odds .

Chambliss and Miami quarterback Darian Mensah are at the top at +325, according to BetGM. MSU quarterback Kamario Taylor , in his first season as MSU's starter, is tied for third at +1000 with three other players: Texas QB Arch Manning, Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith and Miami wide receiver Malachi Toney.

Before games, he prays with his mother, Cheryl, in the front row of the stands. Chambliss has been vocal about his Christian faith. His name was partly inspired by the Holy Trinity.

Chambliss' mom and father, Trent, travel to every game Chambliss plays.
