Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White is the latest Premier League player to have his house burgled. His fiancée, Britney De Villiers, revealed details of the incident on social media.
The South African model and influencer shared the news on Instagram, describing the experience as unsettling and horrible.
According to her, the burglary happened a few days earlier, and the family was shaken by the incident.
Fortunately, neither Gibbs-White nor De Villiers was at home when the property was targeted.
Their two young children, Greyson and Hayes, were also away from the house at the time, so no one in the family was in danger during the break-in.
Despite their safety, De Villiers admitted that the experience had left her feeling violated.
"I wasn't going to publicly share this, but our home was burgled a few days ago, and after hearing about another one since, I feel it's important to just warn others," she said (via the Daily Mail ).
"It's incredibly unsettling knowing that homes are being targeted.
"Please be extra vigilant, make sure your security systems are on whether you're in the house or not and report anything suspicious.
"Thankfully, nobody was home when it happened, and material things can be replaced, but it's a horrible feeling knowing someone has violated your home, especially when you have young children.
"Please stay safe and look out for one another."
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes was also reportedly targeted in a separate incident less than a week earlier.
Three masked intruders broke into the Portuguese midfielder's £4 million mansion while he was in Italy, playing in United's 4-1 defeat against Como.
It's unclear whether Gibbs-White's home was burgled while Forest were playing Ipswich Town in their Premier League meeting on Friday.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw, extending Forest's winless streak to four Premier League games.
Oliver Glasner, who arrived at the club this summer on a reported £13 million-per-year contract , has struggled in his early days at City Ground.
