Barcelona star Rodri personally calls Valencia squad over viral comments – report

Barcelona midfielder Rodri has reportedly taken the initiative to apologise to members of the Valencia squad after comments he made during the Catalan club's 5-0 victory went viral.

According to A Punt Radio , the summer signing personally contacted members of the Valencia team to explain what happened and apologise for his remarks.

The reported calls came after Movistar Plus cameras captured Rodri speaking to Pau Cubarsi while watching the remainder of the match.

Rodri did not appear to realise that his conversation was being picked up, leaving his comments open to public scrutiny after they circulated widely on social media.

During the match, Rodri was heard making a series of blunt observations about Valencia's players.

"They're really weak—these guys are really weak… Really weak. They're really bad, man. They're terrible.

"How did they finish last season? They didn't even make it past midfield in the second half…," Rodri told Cubarsi at different points while watching the remainder of the game.

The footage quickly became a talking point, with opinions divided over whether the Barcelona midfielder had gone too far or was simply speaking candidly to a teammate during what he believed was a private exchange.

Rather than allowing the controversy to linger, Rodri has chosen to address the situation on his own.

A Punt Radio reports that the midfielder called members of the Valencia squad himself because he wanted to apologise and clarify the circumstances surrounding his comments.

That move suggests Rodri recognised that words spoken privately can take on a different meaning once broadcast publicly, particularly when they concern opponents who have just suffered a heavy defeat.

For Valencia, the 5-0 scoreline was already difficult enough, and Rodri's remarks added further misery to an already uncomfortable evening.
