The Oregon Ducks had a dominant 84-0 win over the Portland State Vikings on Friday night, which was a much-needed victory after a stunning loss to the Oklahoma State Cowboys in Week 2.

With the win over the Vikings, head coach Dan Lanning has etched his name in Oregon's history books, becoming the fourth coach in program history to win 50 games , joining Mike Bellotti, Rich Brooks, and Len Casanova.

Lanning has reached 50 wins in just his fifth season with the team and will look to continue picking up wins and move up the list throughout the year.

If he can help the Ducks turn around the season in 2026 and have at least a few more good seasons, he could cement himself as one of the best coaches in program history .

Oregon dropped in the AP Poll rankings after their loss to Oklahoma State and will need to build their way back up to have a shot at making the College Football Playoff.

The Ducks still possess a very talented roster led by stars like quarterback Dante Moore , but they will need consistent execution on both sides of the ball.

Moore had an exceptional game, completing 19 of 23 passes for 280 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions. He didn't even play in the second half due to the 49-0 halftime lead.

Oregon had the execution they had been lacking in their win over Portland State , with 43 first downs compared to five for the Vikings. The Ducks also dominated in total yards, 723 to 103, and had zero turnovers compared to Portland State's four.

Oregon knew this was a must-win game and that they needed to dominate to prove they could be a competitive team. Oregon will need to use this momentum in their Week 4 matchup against the USC Trojans, who have emerged as one of the best teams in the Big Ten.

Lanning has proven to be a great coach for the Ducks over the last few years, but with a challenging start to the season, he has a tall task ahead to get his team ready to take on a strong Trojans team.
