Conor Coady: Ex-England defender leaves Wrexham by mutual consent

Conor Coady has left Wrexham following the mutual termination of his contract with the club.

The centre-back joined the Red Dragons on a permanent deal from Leicester City during the 2025 summer transfer window for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £2m.

He recently entered the final year of his contract with the club - who held the option to extend his deal by an additional 12 months.

But it has been confirmed that Coady has departed the Racecourse Ground.

A club statement read: "All at Wrexham AFC would like to thank Conor for his efforts while with the club and wish him well for the future."

It comes as Wrexham are closing in on a deal to sign central defender Joe Worrall from Championship rivals Burnley.

Coady started Wrexham's opening five games of the 2025-26 campaign but swiftly fell down the pecking order in north Wales.

He joined Charlton Athletic on loan during the mid-season window and made 12 appearances for the Addicks.

Coady has not featured in any of Wrexham's four matchday squads across all competitions so far this season.

In addition to signing defender Worrall, Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson remains eager to add an additional forward to his ranks prior to Tuesday's 23:00 BST transfer deadline.
