As potential Hurricane Isaias forms in the Gulf, Alabama says game vs. Georgia still set to be played as scheduled
The top-10 matchup is set for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff. And right now, it looks like a lot of rain is in the forecast.
Alabama said on Wednesday evening that its game against Georgia was set to proceed as scheduled.
A weather system in the Gulf of Mexico has become Tropical Storm Isaias , and will likely be upgraded to a hurricane in the coming days. The track of the storm is currently aimed east of Texas and potentially toward the Gulf Coast of Mississippi and Alabama with potential landfall later in the week.
That means the No. 6 Crimson Tide's home game in Tuscaloosa against the No. 2 Bulldogs on Saturday could be plagued by lots and lots of rain.
"Alabama athletics continues to closely monitor the weather forecast ahead of Saturday's football game, with the safety and well-being of the student-athletes, coaches, staff and fans as our highest priority," the school said in a statement on Wednesday night . "We remain in close communication with the National Weather Service, the Southeastern Conference office and the University of Georgia as we observe conditions. "At this time, kickoff remains scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT Saturday. We continue to encourage fans to rely on official Alabama athletics and SEC channels for the latest information regarding Saturday's game."

Alabama's statement was similar to one the school put out on Tuesday night. Al.com published a story on Tuesday interviewing meteorologist James Spann, the most widely respected weather voice in the state.
"We've got potential for a hurricane making landfall in Mobile Bay," Spann told the site. "The Alabama-Georgia game, a presidential visit, 'College GameDay.' You got the big [Zach Bryan] concert at Auburn. This is the National Shrimp Festival at Gulf Shores this weekend, which is huge. I mean you could not … it's gonna be a nightmare."
Yes, Spann is referring to President Donald Trump. The president is expected to be in attendance for the game. It's the second SEC game he's attended in three weeks. He was at Texas' win over Tennessee in Week 4. ESPN's pregame show was also in Knoxville for that game.
Kickoff for Saturday's game is set for just after 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC. It's the only matchup of top-10 teams and one of just two matchups between teams in the AP Top 25 in Week 6.
