Miami Reportedly Switching Back to Nike from Adidas as Primary Apparel Provider for Uniforms, More

Miami is reportedly reuniting with Nike after more than a decade with Adidas as the school's main apparel provider.

The university and Nike have agreed to a 10-year contract worth more than $200 million starting with the 2027 football season, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Miami agreed to a 12-year deal reportedly worth more than $90 million with Adidas in 2015.

Prior to that contract, which expires June 30, 2027, Miami had been signed since 1987 with Nike.

That previous contract with Nike made Miami the first school to sign with a retailer providing apparel for all sports, per Matt Porter of the Palm Beach Post.

Miami will now resume that partnership for a 28th year after Adidas fell short of matching Nike's terms in its counteroffer, per Jackson.

According to Jackson, the Nike deal is worth around $20 million annually, including around $13 million in cash with the remaining value in apparel.

Miami's previous deal with Adidas was worth about $6.5 million in annual cash in addition to apparel, per Jackson. Adidas had also partnered with local high schools to provide uniforms and equipment to students in Miami-Dade County.

The news comes shortly after Adidas announced it had signed star Hurricanes wide receiver Malachi Toney to an NIL deal.

Nike will now resume its partnership with Miami amid shifts in the collegiate apparel landscape that saw the brand parts ways with Penn State.

The Nittany Lions wore Nike gear for 33 years before the school announced it would switch to Adidas ahead of the 2026 season in a 10-year deal reportedly worth around $300 million.

Nike also parted ways this season with Tennessee, which began a new ten-year partnership with Adidas in July.

Miami started out what will now be its final season in Adidas uniforms with wins at Stanford and against visiting Florida A&M. The Hurricanes are preparing to face their first ACC opponent of the season with a Friday matchup at Wake Forest.
