The Dallas Cowboys dominated the Philadelphia Eagles in a 38-21 Week 7 blowout on the road on Monday Night Football. The decimated Eagles could not withstand the Cowboys' offensive firepower as coach Brian Schottenheimer's team finally put up a balanced performance on both sides of the ball.

While that win served to wash the bad taste out from the Week 6 loss to the Green Bay Packers, Troy Aikman remains unconvinced this is a legitimate turning point for his beloved franchise.

Why Troy Aikman Is Unconvinced by Cowboys' Huge Week 7 Win

During the postgame broadcast, Aikman was asked by Scott Van Pelt whether the win changed his perspective on the Cowboys, and he answered in the negative.

"Eh, not really. Not really. And I don't mean that as a negative," Aikman said . "This is a beat-up Philadelphia team. To come in here and win tonight, I mean, let's not get carried away. They did what you kind of expected them to do. I did think the Eagles defensively would put up more of a fight than what they did. But it'll bear itself out as we move forward.

"This team's capable. Defense did some good things. They've still got a ways to go. But that's gonna be the key to this team, is how far along can this defense come between now and when the playoffs roll around, if they get in."

There were still poorly timed penalties and blown coverages by the defense against the limited Eagles, but the return of linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, who missed the Cowboys' last five games with a hamstring injury, proved a welcome relief for Christian Parker's unit.

That said, Dallas unfortunately still boasts the league's worst PFN Defense Impact score at 61.4.

The offense, led by quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receivers George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb, shook off its lethargy and dominated the Eagles' defense. Dallas has earned a PFN Offense Impact score of 86.1 (No. 3 in the NFL).

The Cowboys have a favorable schedule in the coming weeks, starting with a home game against the Arizona Cardinals and a road game against the hapless Indianapolis Colts, giving them a chance to go on a winning run before a high-profile clash against the San Francisco 49ers.

Dallas has just four games remaining against teams projected to reach the playoffs, and Schottenheimer's team now has a chance to take control of the NFC East.

During his postgame news conference, Prescott, who amassed 212 passing yards and 3 touchdowns, emphasized the importance of momentum in the league and urged the team to take advantage of the win over the Eagles.

"Momentum's real," Prescott said. "Especially in this league, especially in what we do. Just understanding the parity and how tough this league is, when you get a win, the confidence it gives your group, the confidence it gives this team, and just being able to build off of that, and the benefit of also going home, having a couple of home games in a row, but only this week matters."

After finishing 7-9-1 last season, Dallas invested heavily in turning the team into a playoff contender and, with one of the league's best offenses, could be poised to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2023.
