Right ahead of the new Champions League season, Fanatics Collectibles and UC3 (representing UEFA and top European club teams) announced a six-year partnership extension running from 2027 through 2033.

The deal keeps Fanatics as the exclusive maker of trading cards, stickers, and trading card games across all UEFA club competitions under the Topps brand. But for collectors, the biggest news out of the announcement is the addition of a new chase card: 1-of-1 Topps UEFA Champions League Debut Patches.

How the Champions League Debut Patches Work

The extension covers the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Women's Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Conference League, UEFA Super Cup, and UEFA Youth League.

Each Debut Patch card will feature a game-worn patch taken directly off a player's jersey during their first-ever Champions League match. After the whistle blows, Topps collects and authenticates the patch before embedding it into a 1-of-1 card.

The process fits right into a broader movement where card manufacturers are placing a heavier emphasis on patch provenance and making sure collectors get guaranteed game-worn material straight from historical moments.

The Debut Patch program will make its European club debut in the upcoming Topps UEFA Champions League Chrome Collection set landing later this season.

"Renewing our partnership with Fanatics for UEFA club competitions reflects the strength of our collaboration and our shared commitment to delivering best-in-class products for fans and collectors globally," said Aleksander Čeferin, UEFA President and Chair of the UC3 Board. "Fanatics know how to make big moments feel special. We are excited for what's next."

Bringing Debut Patches to the Champions League is in line with Fanatics' strategy to make the 1-of-1 Debut Patch the main chase card across modern sports.

What started as an MLB initiative has expanded rapidly over the past year. Fanatics has already brought the Debut Patch program to the UFC and partnered with FIFA on international soccer patches . Additionally, the holy grail of modern collecting is officially coming to the gridiron.

Topps recently announced that beginning this season, all NFL rookies will wear a Debut Patch on their jerseys. After a player makes their on-field debut, the patch will be removed and placed into a 1-of-1 autographed trading card, which will be inserted into sealed packs releasing in 2027.

Adding European club soccer and the UEFA Women's Champions League alongside these powerhouse American sports brings the concept to another massive global audience.

The long-term deal also builds on Fanatics' push into the European market, following the opening of its flagship London store last year.

"The timing of this announcement – on the eve of the Champions League season – is incredibly meaningful for us, especially as Fanatics Collectibles continues to meaningfully expand its footprint across Europe,"said Michael Rubin, Founder and CEO of Fanatics. "Together UEFA, European Football Clubs and Fanatics will continue to bring innovative products to fans and collectors for years to come – and through new introductions like the Debut Patch, bring them even closer to the players and clubs they love and support."

The partnership renewal was facilitated by Relevent Football Partners, UC3's exclusive global sales and marketing partner.

With the Champions League season getting underway, collectors can expect the first 1-of-1 game-worn UCL patches to start surfacing in Topps packs later this year.
