Jeshaun Jones Suspended for First Three Games of Regular Season

A member of the Minnesota Vikings who is currently fighting for a spot on the 53-man roster has just seen his chances of not being a part of the team's final cuts increase dramatically. . .for the wrong reasons.

The National Football League has informed Vikings' wide receiver Jeshaun Jones that he will be suspended for the first three games of the 2026 regular season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. He can continue participating in the team's preseason program, including Friday's game in Denver against the Broncos, before starting his suspension on 30 August.

Jones was reportedly arrested outside of Tampa on 18 April for refusing to submit to a blood test to determine his blood-alcohol level. He pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of reckless driving last month, with a sentence that includes twelve months of probation.

While Jones' chances of making the active roster appear to be slim, he would not count against the 53-man roster during the time he is on the suspended list if the Vikings wanted to keep him around. Jones, who leads the Vikings in receiving yardage through the first two preseason games, has been on the team's practice squad the past two seasons and would likely be a candidate to be there again this season.

Jones will be eligible to return at the start of Week 4, so we will see if this incident plays any role in whether or not the team brings him back or decides to cut ties with him completely.
