Nation's Longest Active HSFB Winning Streak Ends After Massapequa's Upset vs. Garden City

A New York high school football game Monday night proved to have national implications.

The Massapequa Chiefs beat the Garden City Trojans 21-14. Garden City's 68-game winning streak, which had been the longest in the country, is no more. USA Today 's Joseph Spears noted the Trojans last lost in 2019.

Massapequa senior wide receiver Dylan Milio scored the game-winning touchdown inside the final minute. An interception by defensive lineman Ryan Chabus set up the pivotal drive.

"It was definitely one of the closest games we've ever played in," he told the New York Post 's Alex Mitchell . "It meant a little more because now we could break history. In school, we were not really paying attention to teachers today, honestly."

The longest winning streak in high school football now belongs to Carl Albert High School in Midwest City, Oklahoma. The Titans have reeled off 58 victories in a row.

Setting the all-time record will only require Carl Albert to almost triple its ongoing run. De La Salle High School in California famously won 151 straight games between 1992 and 2004.
