Lane Johnson is proving he remains elite in final season with Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles have several offensive problems to address after scoring seven points in Monday night's loss to the Chicago Bears . Lane Johnson is not one of them.

Johnson is spending his final NFL season doing what he has done throughout a decorated career: neutralizing opposing pass rushers and providing stability at right tackle. Through three games, the six-time All-Pro leads all offensive tackles with a 97.2% pass-block win rate, according to Pro Football Focus. Denver Broncos left tackle Garett Bolles ranks second at 97%, followed by Minnesota Vikings right tackle Brian O'Neill at 96.6%. Johnson's continued placement among the league's best tackles is especially valuable for an Eagles offensive line that has undergone significant changes.

Philadelphia entered the season without Landon Dickerson and has since moved Cam Jurgens to left guard while installing Drew Kendall at center. With the interior still developing chemistry, Johnson has remained the trusted veteran on the right side.

Johnson remains dominant in pass protection

Johnson has played 136 offensive snaps and earned a 74.8 overall PFF grade, ranking 15th among 69 qualified offensive tackles. His 83.4 pass-blocking grade ranks third at the position.

More importantly, Johnson has surrendered only one pressure without allowing a sack or quarterback hit. He has also been flagged for just one penalty. His 68.1 run-blocking grade ranks 26th among tackles, but his overall work confirms he can still perform at an elite level. Philadelphia's offense has struggled to establish consistency through three weeks. Jalen Hurts has dealt with uneven protection, the running game has disappeared for long stretches, and the unit scored only once against Chicago.

None of that can be pinned on Johnson. Even in his final season, the 36-year-old remains one of the NFL's premier pass protectors and the most dependable member of Philadelphia's reshuffled offensive line.

The Eagles' challenge is finding enough stability around him before his remarkable career reaches its conclusion.
