Chiefs Outlast Colts To Get A 33-30 Overtime Win

The Kansas City Chiefs managed to squeak past a surprisingly feisty Indianapolis Colts team in a back-and-forth battle that went to overtime, with the Chiefs getting a 33-30 win on a 40-yard field goal from kicker Harrison Butker on the last play of the game.

It was a tight, entertaining game through out, starting with a first half full of back-and-forth scores. The Chiefs spotted the Colts a touchdown to start the game as Indy controlled the ball for over six minutes. The drive featured a nice balance of runs and short passes, with quarterback Daniel Jones finishing off the drive with a one-yard TD pass to tight end Tyler Warren .

The Chiefs came back with a field goal after a short drive, with Butker hitting from 46 yards out. The Colts then gifted them with a Daniel Jones interception that cornerback Kristian Fulton accepted, and a 13-yard touchdown pass to tight end Travis Kelce made it 10-7 Chiefs at the end of the first quarter.

Another short drive produced an Indy field goal from Spencer Schrader to tie the game and 10-10 to start the second quarter, and Indy added another one after a Butker miss to make it 13-10.

The two teams then traded touchdowns, with Kansas City scoring first on a one-yard touchdown pass to receiver Xavier Worthy to make it 17-13, but an explosive 24-yard TD run from running back Jonathan Taylor made it 20-17 at the half.

The Chiefs used an explosive play of their own to take the lead back to start the third quarter, as a 45-yard strike from Mahomes to receiver Tyquan Thornton got the ball to the one-yard line. It took a bit, but Mahomes finally hit receiver Jaden Royal in the back of the end zone to make it 24-20.

Kansas City put together another impressive drive to end the quarter, but they couldn't finish the drive and had to settle for another short Butker field goal that made it 27-20 going into the fourth.

The Colts were resilient on this particular night, however, and they came back with another impressive touchdown, with Taylor finishing it off with a five-yard run to tie the game at 27-27. Both teams had late chances after that, but the fourth quarter ended with that score and the game went to overtime.

The Chiefs took control on the opening drive of OT, starting with a 30-yard pass to Thornton, followed by a pass for a first down to Kelce. But the drive stalled in the red zone, and Butker came on to kick a field goal from 31 yards out and make it 33-30.

The Colts came right back with a field goal of thier own, with the big play being a 48-yard pass to Laquon Treadwell that almost became a fumble recovery for Kansas City. It put the Colts in the red zone, but they couldn't finish their drive, and Schrader came on to kick a 38-yard field goal that tied things back up at 30-30.

The Chiefs then closed it out with a final clock-killing drive, with the key play being a third-and-1 near midfield. Instead of running, Mahomes threw a short floater to Walker that went for 22 yards and set up the winning 40-yard field goal from Butker.
