Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding wasn't exactly thrilled with the No. 4 Rebels' 52-28 defeat at the hands of No. 21 Florida on Saturday.

Golding called the loss an "old-fashioned butt whooping" while also wondering if he had enough players with a "burning in your gut" to fix the problems that plagued them, per ESPN's Andrea Adelson .

Ole Miss trailed 17-6 at halftime against Florida before the Gators scored 35 points in the second half to wrap up the lopsided victory.

Golding's defense struggled throughout the contest, giving up 498 total yards. The Gators also picked up 302 rushing yards as a team, averaging 5.7 yards per attempt.

The Rebels amassed 426 total yards of their own, although they couldn't keep up with Florida's offense. Ole Miss finished with two turnovers while converting just four of 11 opportunities on third down.

Rebels quarterback Trinidad Chambliss went 25-of-34 for 298 yards and one touchdown compared to one interception. Chambliss scored twice on the ground as well.

"I don't want them to get this taste out of their mouth," Golding said, per Adelson. "That's what I told them. I never got the taste out of my mouth from Miami walking off the field [in last year's CFP semifinal loss]. Part of the problem sometimes is we move on too fast. The sun's going to come up tomorrow and it's a new day, but it's a new day to go get better at what we don't do well."

The loss was particularly disappointing considering Ole Miss entered the contest with plenty of momentum, scoring 82 combined points in wins over Louisville and Charlotte to open the season before making a statement with a 32-24 victory against LSU on Sept. 19.

Golding's squad will attempt to get back on track in its next game, a matchup with Vanderbilt on Oct. 10.
