The most chaotic game amid a remarkably dramatic college football season went down in Orlando on Saturday as unranked UCF upset No. 2 (and previously undefeated BYU) 39-31 in double overtime.

BYU was a 6.5-point favorite, per FanDuel Sportsbook . The Cougars were also riding the high of a tremendous 28-24 win over previously second-ranked Notre Dame last Saturday.

However, the Knights decided to play spoiler. Here's a look at some notable box score stats.

Losing to an unranked team that sat 3-3 going into the evening should be a tough blow for BYU in the Associated Press poll . The guess is the Cougars will sit in the No. 8-10 range off the strength of their previous record capped by the big Notre Dame win, No. 8 Texas Tech's loss to Cincinnati and No. 11 Tennessee's loss to unranked South Carolina.

UCF and BYU traded punches in regulation. with the Knights' 17-point second quarter being the top highlight until the final sequences in regulation, which had to be seen to be believed.

For starters, UCF had the ball on the BYU 43-yard line with 14 seconds left in the fourth quarter and the score tied at 24. UCF quarterback Keyone Jenkins was taken down, but he was just able to get off an incomplete pass to avoid a sack.

However, on the same play, BYU defensive lineman Keanu Tanuvasa was caught pushing a UCF player's helmeted head down while the two were on the ground, leading to a 15-yard unsportmanlike conduct penalty.

UCF then appeared a bit confused, first spiking the ball and throwing an incomplete pass out of bounds. That led to a 46-yard field goal attempt for the win from kicker Will Stone with 11 seconds left, but his effort got blocked.

Stone recovered the ball behind the line of scrimmage and got his helmet taken off by a BYU player. A flag was thrown, and it appeared UCF could get another chance with two seconds left.

However, after an official review, the flag was picked up, and then there was a 10-second runoff because of the helmet being removed. UCF didn't have a timeout left to stop the clock, and the game went to overtime.

Former NFL referee and NBC Sports rules analyst Terry McAulay said there should not have been a runoff.

Chris Hummer of 247Sports broke it all down via bullet points.

If you're confused about all or even some of that, or simply enthralled by the incredible drama, you're not alone.

Overtime then ensued. Both teams traded touchdowns in the first session. BYU quarterback Bear Bachmeier hit wideout Legend Gasker for 28 yards on 3rd-and-13, but Jenkins found wide receiver Josh Derry for 25 yards on the next play. And so the second OT began with the score tied at 31.

UCF's second overtime drive stalled, leading to a short field goal attempt. However, BYU was called for roughing the kicker.

Game analyst Robert Griffin III was not enamored with the call.

UCF took advantage of its second chance when Jenkins found tight end Grayson Brousseau for a four-yard TD. Tyren Hornes then caught a two-point conversion for a 39-31 lead.

BYU got a first down on the UCF eight-yard line, but four straight incomplete passes followed, ending the game.

BYU (6-1 overall, 3-1 Big 12) will now host Arizona State next Saturday. UCF (4-3 overall, 2-2 Big 12) will welcome Baylor into Orlando on Friday evening.
