Hibernian 1-1 Aberdeen: Martin Boyle penalty ends Hibs' home losing run with Scottish Premiership draw

The Dons went ahead in the 17th minute with a composed finish from former Hibs striker Kevin Nisbet.

Managerless Hibernian - with interim boss John Potter in charge following David Gray's midweek sacking - looked bereft of confidence for long spells.

However, the Leith side - who had previously lost six successive games at Easter Road - earned a share of the spoils after Boyle levelled from the penalty spot in the 62nd minute after Jack Milne dragged Jason Kerr to the ground.

There had been no meaningful attacking forays before Aberdeen stormed ahead through Nisbet.

Defender Gavin Molloy's ambitious shot from distance was mishit and fell to the Aberdeen captain in the box.

With his back to goal, Nisbet took one touch before planting a controlled shot past Rafa Sallinger from 12 yards.

That goal triggered a response from the hosts and they at least started exerting some pressure in the final third.

Dons goalkeeper Marius Muller made a near-post block to deny Owen Elding after the Irishman connected with Callum Wright's low ball into the six-yard box.

Miguel Chaiwa then lacked composure when a loose ball dropped to him 18 yards out and the midfielder lashed a half-volley well wide.

Aberdeen made a lively start to the second half and should have at least tested Sallinger with a breakaway in the 47th minute.

Afeez Aremu played in Toyosi Olusanya in the box but the angle was against the striker and he dragged a shot wide.

Hibs created a good chance of their own in the 54th minute when Felix Passlack found Josh Mulligan inside the area.

There were plenty of players in the midfielder's way and he scooped a harmless shot wide.

But Hibernian levelled in the 62nd minute courtesy of Boyle from the spot.

Aberdeen defender Milne had both arms around Kerr as the Hibs defender fell to the ground trying to get on the end of Adam Mayor's cross from a short corner.

Referee Nick Walsh pointed to the spot and Boyle sent his penalty straight down the middle.

Milne tried to make amends at the other end when he got on the end of Findlay Marshall's corner but yet his header was kept out on the line by Sallinger.

Home substitute Ante Suto then glanced a header wide at the back post after Wright flashed a cross into a dangerous area.

Hibs upped the pressure late on but could not find the winner.
