Arch Manning Apologizes to ESPN's Holly Rowe for 'Insensitive Comment' About AI-Generated Video

Texas quarterback Arch Manning posted an apology to ESPN's Holly Rowe on his Instagram story Tuesday and said he made an "insensitive comment" about an AI-generated video of her postgame interview with head coach Steve Sarkisian following Saturday's win over Ohio State:

"I specifically want to apologize to Holly Rowe for what she has personally had to deal with because of my comments," Manning wrote. "I have a ton of respect for her and appreciate her showing me grace in this moment. I need to do better and will be more thoughtful going forward."

Rowe responded to Manning, accepting his apology and offering to move forward following their private conversation:

When asked Monday whether he had seen any social posts from the postgame celebration of the Longhorns' 24-23 comeback victory over the Buckeyes, Manning told reporters , "I've seen a few AI edits, that's about it. I saw an AI edit of Sark's interview. Y'all seen that one? That's a good one. Of him slapping Holly Rowe. It's hilarious."

Evan Vieth of On3.com, the reporter who asked the question that prompted Manning's response, also apologized to Rowe for describing the signal-caller's answer as "gold" in his caption.

"As a young journalist just getting started in this industry, I deeply admire the hard work, time, and dedication Holly Rowe has put in to become one of the best reporters working today. I never meant to disrespect her work, vilify Manning, or spread hatred toward anyone, but intent isn't the same as impact, and I own that," Vieth stated. "I sincerely apologize for how I chose to present the tweet, and I'll be more careful going forward, especially when it comes to AI-generated content and how quickly I hit send."

After Texas' dramatic comeback victory over Ohio State, Rowe attempted to interview Sarkisian on the field, but she didn't even get to finish asking her question before the coach interrupted her and yelled, "Let's go, Texas fight! Let's go, Texas fight!" He gave a "Hook 'Em!" to the camera before walking off.

Sarkisian didn't address his interview with Rowe when he met with reporters on Monday before Manning's press conference. According to The Athletic's Ralph D. Russo , Rowe and Texas officials spoke Monday about the failed postgame interview and "they're all good and moving forward," according to a person briefed on that conversation. Russo added that the conversation took place before Manning's viral comments.

Manning and No. 1 Texas (2-0) will return to action on Saturday night at home against UTSA (2-0).
