President Donald Trump to attend Texas vs. Tennessee game in Knoxville

While in office, President Donald Trump has attended a handful of different sporting events. He's appeared at the Super Bowl, the Daytona 500, the NBA Finals, the College Football national championship game and even held a UFC event on the White House's front lawn.

On Saturday, he'll add another college football game to that list. Trump will reportedly attend the Texas-Tennessee game over the weekend, the White House confirmed to The Athletic on Wednesday afternoon.

That matchup is one of the most anticipated in college football this week. After taking down Ohio State in mid-September, Texas enters Saturday's game as the No. 1 ranked team in the nation . But Tennessee isn't far behind at No. 14.

The game will take place at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Trump has no connection to either school, as he attended Fordham University before transferring to the University of Pennsylvania.

The following day, Trump is expected to attend the Presidents Cup, which will take place in Chicago. Trump accepted an invitation to the event in August, where he'll serve as an honorary chairman.

Trump has received mixed responses from fans at live sporting events. His most recent appearance — the FIFA World Cup Final on July 19 — resulted in Trump being booed as he walked onto the pitch for the postgame ceremony where he bestowed medals upon champion Spain. Trump was also booed by Knicks fans during Game 3 of the NBA Finals at New York's Madison Square Garden in June. The team went on to lose that contest 115-111 to the San Antonio Spurs. It was the only game the Knicks dropped to the Spurs in the Finals.

His appearance at a Washington Commanders vs. Detroit Lions game back in 2025 drew a slightly more mixed response, with the president receiving some cheers .

Trump's decision to attend the Texas-Tennessee game comes as his approval rating has dropped to a record low . Trump received overwhelming support from Tennessee in the 2024 presidential election, though an August survey revealed he could face a more mixed response when he appears during Saturday's game.
