Vikings Receive Trade Speculation Amid Failed Offensive Experiment
Frustrated by a stagnant offense, Minnesota may shop high-profile signing Jauan Jennings before the deadline to salvage a season defined by elite defense and...
The Minnesota Vikings (6-1) are the most confounding team in the National Football League through eight weeks of football. They're having as rough a start to a season as you could have with an 86% winning percentage through seven games.
The Vikings fanbase might be the most discontented 6-1 fanbase of a football team in the last decade. The lack of trust in their team revolves around an inept offense squandering one of the best defenses of the last decade.
It's no secret the Vikings should be 7-0 right now and towering over the rest of the NFL. That is, if the team had a fraction of the offense it was expected to have after key offseason additions. One such addition was Minnesota wide receiver Jauan Jennings.
Athlon Sports' Neal Coolong discussed the possibility that the Vikings might consider trading its premiere free agent wide receiver pickup in Jauan Jennings. Here's what Coolong had to say about the potential of a trade.
"The fit in Minnesota hasn't worked the way either side hoped when he signed a one-year deal in May. Jennings has six catches for 54 yards in six games, according to ESPN's team stats, two years after he put up 975 receiving yards in San Francisco.
Side by side with Jordan Addison, the gap in his role is plain. Addison has drawn 32 targets in six games as the No. 2 receiver behind Justin Jefferson. Jennings has 10 over the same number of games, and the Vikings added Odell Beckham Jr. in October, which only crowded the room further.
Jennings' own wishes are the wild card. He effectively vetoed the San Francisco deal, and we wrote that 49ers fans shouldn't hold their breath for a reunion. Minnesota could still find a team he'd accept, especially one with a bigger role to offer."
Jennings is set to miss the Vikings' upcoming Monday Night Football game against the Buffalo Bills with injury. He hasn't done much when healthy either.
What the Vikings could get in return for a trade of Jennings is uncertain, but what is certain is that they're really not getting anything from him when he is on the field. It has been one of, if not the most disappointing developments of the Vikings' 2026 season.
The Vikings have plenty to sort out before the Nov. 10 trade deadline, but wide receiver definitely makes the list. We'll see what moves they opt to make or not to make as the trading window comes to a close.
