The Spanish Football Federation have appointed Juan Martínez Munuera as the man in charge of Sunday's decisive El Clásico between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, which will be played at the Camp Nou.
This will be the fifth time that the 44-year-old Juan Martínez Munuera officiates a Clásico in his 14 seasons in the First Division. Up until now, the balance has been positive for Real Madrid, with whom they've won three of those four matches: 1-3 in La Liga in 2020, 0-4 in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semifinals in 2023, and 4-1 in the Spanish Super Cup final in 2024. On the other hand, Barcelona won 0-4 in La Liga back in 2022.
Javier Iglesias Villanueva will be in charge of VAR. The referee is part of the specific VAR group since the 2024-25 season and unleashed Real Madrid's criticism in February 2025, when he was in the VAR and did not ask Muñiz Ruiz to review a potential red card to Carlos Romero for a kick from behind on Mbappé during a match between Espanyol and Real Madrid.
Available TV : DAZN La Liga (Spain), ESPN Deportes (USA).
