Philip Rivers' Son Gunner Injured in HSFB Season Opener, 4-Star QB is Committed to NC State

The son of former NFL quarterback Philip Rivers, Gunner, suffered a right knee injury during Saturday's matchup against Battle Ground Academy.

The younger Rivers, who plays quarterback for St. Michael, is a 4-star prospect and is committed to NC State.

The elder Rivers, who coaches St. Michael, said he didn't believe there was any structural damage to his son's knee and initially believed he would give it a go in the second half.

After attempting passes at halftime, however, he was shut down for the day and didn't return to the game.
