Borussia Dortmund's defender Nico Schlotterbeck picked up an outer ligament injury to his right ankle while training with the German national team last week. According to Sport BILD , he will most likely miss Friday's game against Werder Bremen. However, the club is confident that he will be fit again for the UEFA Champions League match at Bodø/Glimt on Wednesday.
Schlotterbeck picked up the injury during a 'fun competitive drill'. The players were dribbling around slalom poles in four groups. Schlotterbeck lost control of the ball and veered into another group, where Finn Jeltsch was dribbling at the same time – twisting his ankle and sustaining an injury.
In the summer, Schlotterbeck picked up an injury in the 2026 FIFA World Cup game against Ivory Coast and had to come off at halftime. He recently returned to the team and featured in Dortmund's two Bundesliga wins against Paderborn and Stuttgart before the international break. He also played for Germany in the 1-1 draw against the Netherlands.
