UGA fans furious after football highlights put behind $20 monthly paywall

Some Georgia football fans are expressing frustration after learning they may have to pay to watch game highlights through a new platform promoted by the university's football program.

On Monday, the official Georgia Football X account directed fans to Glory Glory, a website and app designed to provide exclusive Georgia athletics content, including highlights from the Bulldogs' 63-3 win over Tennessee State .

Glory Glory describes itself as "a fan-first ecosystem designed to capture and share exclusive content, deliver unparalleled access to UGA athletics, and inspire deeper levels of engagement."

A community note attached to the social media post states that access to the content requires a subscription starting at $20 per month. The cost quickly sparked criticism from some fans.

"Do you have any idea how much money I've spent to attend this university and support this program over the years? Show me the freaking highlights; the fanbase is bleeding cash week in and week out," one fan wrote on X.

Another user posted, "Charging me 20 dollars a month to watch the full highlights video. You gotta be smoking something."

Others said the move reflects a broader trend of fans being asked to pay more for college sports content.

"Gross. Everyone seems so committed to ruining college football entirely," another commenter wrote.

Not everyone opposed the subscription model.

One supporter argued that paying for the content helps support athletes and the production of additional exclusive videos and features.

Several fans also pointed out that game highlights remain available for free on YouTube.

The University of Georgia announced the launch of Glory Glory earlier this year as a platform intended to provide fans with behind-the-scenes access and exclusive content connected to Georgia athletics.

The university said it had no comment on this story.
